South Africa and Gabon, 2026
We flew to Durban, South Africa in June, 2026 in search of primates and other wildlife. We headed north to Manyoni Private Game Reserve for a few days. From there we headed southwest across South Africa, stopping at several national parks and nature reserves, eventually reaching Cape Town. We then flew to Gabon, a country we last visited in 2000 ((Gabon, 2000)) in search of mandrills and other primates. After a long drive to Lope National Park, we located some mandrills! We then drove to Lambarene and and took a boat to Lake Oguemoue. Here's some of what we found:
