Alaska and Siberia, 2014
In August we journeyed north to Nome, Alaska where we spent a few days exploring the area.
We then flew onward to Siberia where we boarded a ship heading north along the coast through
the Bering Strait and northward through the Chukchi and East Siberian Seas to Wrangel Island.
We saw many whales, polar bears, walrus, Arctic Fox and Snowy Owls from shore excursions and a 2-day overland trip by tundra vehicle.
We also visited several spots along the East Siberian coast.
We have more details in our blog entries: "There is No Place Like Nome",
"Into the Realm of the Polar Bear",
"The Wonders of Wrangel Island",
"Trekol Traverse" and
"Conduit to the New World".
